Shoe Surgeon Sneaker Design Course:
I had the opportunity to attend the Shoe Surgeon Academy Sneaker Design class in New York City class exploring the step-by-step process through the entire design process, from researching trends, sneakers, materials, colors, or anything that inspired me for my sneaker concept to thumbnail sketching, concept sketching, refinement, rendering, and presenting a design review to sell my idea and product to a specific audience.
I choose to explore the city of New York by taking pictures of Fashion and still life for my trend board. I gained much knowledge while shopping and looking for inspiration, from designer stores to sneaker stores. Nothing was more exciting than seeing some of the hottest trends in person and thinking about how to bring my research to life to design a sneaker.
Throughout the process, I learned different sketching concepts to produce innovative designs and build my product line from concept to reality that appeal to targeted consumers. I used one of my favorite sneakers, the Jordan I sneaker, as a reference to design my sneaker. I spent time free-hand drawing several thumbnail sketches, critiquing my classmate's design sketches, developing a final sneaker concept sketch, and free-hand rendering my final three drawings. By the end of the class, I was able to present a final design presentation of my trend board and sneaker collection.
